Gaylene - Owner/Instructor

Gaylene is a leader in the fitness and dance industry, with over 30 years of professional teaching and managerial experience. She is currently a group fitness instructor at the California Health and Longevity Institute, Four Seasons Westlake Village. Her work uniquely expands fitness into the world of dance, where she is owner and instructor at Gaylene’s Dance Studio, a boutique dance studio specializing in creative dance for children and adults. Gaylene shares her boundless love of movement and fitness with students from the age of two years to those in their seventies! Because her sunny attitude engenders trust and humor, many celebrities flock to her classes and bring their children to study as well.  Other fitness professionals throughout the Los Angeles area benefit from her experience, thanks to her creative workshops on choreography called Keeping It Fresh.

Gaylene began dancing at 2 years old and by the time she was 8 she was training with legendary tap dancer, Louis Da Pron. She is a certified AFAA group fitness instructor, IFA certified personal trainer, and a certified Johnny G. Spin instructor. She has used her wealth of dance and fitness experience to appear on and choreograph fitness and exercise videos and infomercials, including Operation Get Fit, Castaldi’s Killer Bootcamp workout series. Working on this series, produced by Melanie Griffith’s production company, One World Live, gave Gaylene an incredible amount of experience in television production, working on sets and behind the camera with directors, camera operators and audio/video producers. 

 

Most recently, Gaylene had the opportunity to work on a music video for singer/songwriter, Kelly Macleod, the former lead singer of Private Life produced by Eddie Van Halen. Kelly's first solo album was released last Spring along with her music video to cover song "Little Less Conversation", where Gaylene is lead choreographer. www.kellymacleodmusic.com

Her performance and fitness choreography have been seen on KTLA's American Heart Association telethon fitness demonstrations, the World Gym opening fitness demonstrations, the LA Fitness opening fitness demonstration covered by Fox News, and the Health and Fitness Expo at the LA Convention Center broadcast on ESPN 2. 

Her managerial experience includes several fitness clubs, including LA Fitness, World Gym, The Firm, L.A. Workout, The Spectrum Club, and Sports Club L.A. 

One will find very few people in the dance and fitness field with the wealth of exceptional abilities, experience, knowledge, innovation and motivation to fulfill the needs of her clientele as those possessed by Gaylene.

 

Syndel - Ballet Instructor

Syndel joined Gaylene's Dance Studio summer of 2010. She began her studies of Ballet at the age of 6 at the Ciara Dance Studio in the San Fernando Valley;performing in yearly summer recitals. She has studied in many styles of dance,such as jazz, modern,lyrical, tap ,hip-hop,contemporary, pointe-work,flamenco,jazz-funk and is still continuing to explore many more dance styles.At the age of 15,she danced as the Sugar Plum Fairy in her company's production of "The Nutcracker."She performed many times with the Ciara Dance Company,including Disneyland and local fairs. Syndel has also spread her love for dance by performing in several charity events,including Autism, the elderly at the Motion Picture Hospital, and the Revlon Runway Show on Rodeo Drive supporting Breast Cancer. As a freshman in high school, Syndel  danced on the Calabasas HIgh School Dance Team. She continued all four years,performing in winter and spring dance concerts, competing annually with USA Nationals and WCE. Her senior year she choreographed a contemporary piece for the team's winter concert, where she was given the opportunity to design lighting, costumes and make up.As well, Syndel's senior year was filled with much training for her senior solo that she performed at the spring concert and competed twice at the USA Regional competitions 2009-2010. She even scored high enough to compete her solo at USA Nationals in March 2010, where she represtented the Calabasas Dance Team and won a certificate of Achievement in Professional Dance, Dance Team Elite, and Choreography Award.

 Syndel was a dance major at Loyola Marymount University, dancing  with Los Angeles's best and well-known dancers and choreographers and is currently a law student! 

Danie - Hip Hop Instructor

Danie began training  at the age of 3 at A Step in Time School of Dance. Danie continued to study dance through the years and trained at other studios such as Bobbie's School of Performing Arts and Talent Lab. Danie was also captain of her dance team all four years and received numerous awards at dance competitions throughout the years. For the past two years, Danie has been a member of the LA Dance Magic Company that travels around the United States.
